Jaguar

About this species

The jaguar is the largest cat native to the Americas and the only Panthera species found there, prowling the dense rainforests, wetlands, and grasslands from Mexico to northern Argentina. Unlike most big cats, jaguars are strong swimmers that readily take to water to hunt caimans, fish, and turtles. Their bite force is the most powerful of any big cat relative to body size, strong enough to pierce turtle shells and skulls directly.
